Summary
In a hospital while other parents were loving their newborn baby, Wormwood was disappointed to find out she was pregnant and giving birth. Matilda Despite the constant contempt from her parents, Matilda became a sweet child who loved to read and visit Phelps' librarian every day. Jennifer Honey and the inspector went home to introduce Matilda to Crunchem Hall.
On the way to school, Matilda tells Phelps her story about a fugitive who falls in love and marries a gymnast. Arriving at school, Matilda and new classmate Lavender are warned about the horrible way students are there. In class, Matilda solves a complex math equation on the board and admits she enjoys reading. Honey suggested Trunchbull move Matilda to a higher level, but Trunchbull refused to allow Matilda to be an exception to the rule. At home, when Matilda criticized her father, he tore off her library book and sent her to her room, so she glued his hat to his head. The next day, Matilda leads the students in defending their Nigel classmate from the wrong punishment, but Trunchbull instead angers Amanda Thripp, a girl with curly hair, and throws her over the fence.
During a student lunch, Trunchbull accused Matilda of stealing some of her private chocolates, but Bruce Bogtrotter accidentally revealed his involvement. She forces him to eat the whole cake, saying he will forgive if he controls it. Bruce's success excites Matilda, Honey, and the students, but angers Trunchbull, and she condemns him to Chokey for nothing. Matilda tries to defend Bruce unsuccessfully and after school while the kids think only of their adulthood. Matilda's story for Phelps continues: A pregnant gymnast is forced to do dangerous styling by her sister. She was seriously injured and died after giving birth to a baby girl. The fugitive forgave his sister and asked her to help raise her daughter. The stepfather blames his daughter for her stepmother's death and secretly scares her. At home, Wormwood locks Matilda in her room for criticizing his dishonest business practices. She ends her story: When a fugitive finds out that his daughter has been abused, he never returns From facing the sister.
The next day, Trunchbull forces the children through difficult exercises to crush their rebellion. Lavender slipped Isaac's pet into her drinking water, and Matilda was furious at using her newly discovered telekinesis to embarrass Trunchbull. Honey invites Matilda to her hut, where Matilda learns that the fugitive and the aerobics are Honey's parents and stepmother Trunchbull. Despite Honey's warning against Trunchbull entering the street, Matilda uses her powers to destroy Chokey. At home, Matilda learns that her father was cheating on the Mafia and that the family had to flee to Spain. Sadly, Matilda cries in her room about never seeing her friend again.
When the kids go back to school, Trunchbull forces them to spell the words correctly or is locked in a new Chokey. She has Lavender spells created to trick other children into deliberately misspelling words so she can lock them all into Chokeys. Matilda uses her telekinesis to pretend to be Honey's father's revenge ghost by destroying Chokeys and throwing the Trunchbull out of school. Honey told her not to come back and take the keys back to her father's house. After the Trunchbull ran away, the students openly rebelled and destroyed the Trunchbull statue. He and Wormwood brought Matilda to Spain, but Honey begged them to let Matilda stay with her. They reluctantly agree to let her raise Matilda, who uses her power to take off her father’s hat.
With Honey as the new principal, Crunchem Hall was renamed The Big Friendly School and students helped build a new playground. Phelps is very happy that Matilda's true story has a happy ending and that she and Honey live happily ever after.
